De film Boven is het stil van Nanouk Leopold (naar de gelijknamige roman van Gerbrand Bakker) heeft de achtentwintigste editie van het Torino GLBT (een afkorting van gay, lesbian, bisexual en transgender) Film Festival gewonnen. De jury schreef over de film:

For its way of handling several intertwined topics by using high quality cinematographic art. For the high level of the actors’ recitative performance, for its poetry, for its dark themed and carnal photography. For its unique ability to turn the tragic silence in human relations into a great communicative strength that goes through the screen.
