De shortlist van de Man Booker Prize 2014 is zojuist bekendgemaakt. Dit jaar maken voor het eerst ook Amerikaanse en Australische schrijvers kan op de Man Booker Prize. De shortlist is als volgt:

Joshua Ferris (Amerikaans) – To Rise Again at a Decent Hour (Viking)
Richard Flanagan (Australisch) – The Narrow Road to the Deep North (Chatto & Windus)
Karen Joy Fowler (Amerikaans) – We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves (Serpent’s Tail)
Howard Jacobson (Brits) – J (Jonathan Cape)
Neel Mukherjee (Brits) – The Lives of Others (Chatto & Windus)
Ali Smith (Brits) – How to be Both (Hamish Hamilton)
