Akhil Sharma heeft met Family Life de International DUBLIN Literary Award 2016 gewonnen. Dat is gisteren bekendgemaakt. Family Life is het verhaal van de achtjarige Ajay die in 1978 met zijn familie van Delhi naar het beloofde land Amerika verhuist. Het leven lacht hen toe maar dan voltrekt zich een drama. Een van de broers loopt een hersenbeschadiging op en de ander blijft als wees achter in een hem vreemd land. Akhil Sharma won met Family Life eerder al de Folio Prize.
